Ever since Dylan Stone beat Veronica Chasen out of a prime position at the Cleveland Courier, they’ve been bitter rivals, engaging in a very public war of words in their competing newspaper columns. They routinely challenge each other to go bungee jumping, white water rafting, or into tattoo parlors to see who will wimp out first. But Veronica’s latest taunt may be Dylan’s toughest assignment yet: She dares him to learn to knit.
Dylan is not going to let something his grandmother can do scare him off. He’s man enough to make a scarf—and attend Veronica’s weekly knitting circle. But when the infuriatingly handsome Dylan shows up at the craft shop and charms all the ladies, Veronica starts to get all knotted up in something that feels a lot like love...
Tangled Up In Love is the first book in a series, Chicks with Sticks, by Heidi Betts. Basically there's a hockey player, a cop, two reporters, a domestic diva and a teacher. The three females are knitters, who love to have Girls' Night and trash talk about the men. There's lots of history between all six. And it's juicy too....
I found the book very easy to read, the story flowed very well. I loved the chemistry between Ronnie and Dylan, the sexual and the professional tension. Their banter was great and their sexual encounters were sizzling. But...yes, there's a but...I felt like something was missing, I think it must have been that there's wasn't a real connection (of minds) until later in the book. And when this happened it felt like it was finally meshing together. I loved the way that Ronnie finally spoke about her growing up in poverty and her need to be financially safe; and Dylan confiding to her his desire to be a sports reporter. It was only then that they truly felt (to me) that they were a couple and not "friends with benefits".
Can't wait to get my hands on the next book, Loves Me, Loves Me Knot.
