451 Challenge

Just doing my usual blog reading routine, visiting my favorite blogs and seeing what everyone is up to, when an entry on At Home With Books caught my eye, here's the link to it. A new challenge. Yes, a new one, and it sounds like so much fun.

The challenge is called 451 Challenge and it's hosted by Elizabeth of As Usual, I Need More Bookshelves. The challenge is based on Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. Here's what is posted on challenge entry:
In his novel, a group of people (Bradbury calls them Book People) are trying to keep the ideas found in books alive. Instead of actually saving the books, the Book People each "become" a book - memorizing it, word for word, and passing it down to the next generation.

451 Fridays asks what books you feel passionate about. What book do you think is so important that you would be willing to take on the challenge of "becoming"?

The challenge runs between January 1, 2010 to November 30, 2010.Read books taken from the master list. You can find the list here. And don't forget about choosing a tier. There are four tiers:
Spark - read 1-2 books from the master list
Ember - read 3-4 books from the master list
Flame - read 5-6 books from the master list
Blaze - read 7 or more books from the master list

Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Want to join? Visit here.

I am aiming high with this one, I'm going with Blaze.

My list includes:

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton
Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank (re-read)
Atonement by Ian McEwan
Blindness by Jose Saramago - I've had this one in my TBR for years
