Will the real Duke please stand up?

I absolutely love Julia Quinn’s books, I have all the Bridgerton series and a few others of hers in my keeper shelf. It’s not a surprise that I’ve been looking forward to reading her latest, The Lost Duke of Wyndham.

Here’s the blurb:

Will the real Duke of Wyndham please stand up?

Jack Audley has been a highwayman. A soldier. And he has always been a rogue. What he is not, and never wanted to be, is a peer of the realm, responsible for an ancient heritage and the livelihood of hundreds. But when he is recognized as the long-lost son of the House of Wyndham, his carefree life is over. And if his birth proves to be legitimate, then he will find himself with the one title he never wanted: Duke of Wyndham.

Grace Eversleigh has spent the last five years toiling as the companion to the dowager Duchess of Wyndham. It is a thankless job, with very little break from the routine... until Jack Audley lands in her life, all rakish smiles and debonair charm. He is not a man who takes no for an answer, and when she is in his arms, she's not a woman who wants to say no. But if he is the true duke, then he is the one man she can never have...

I’ve had this book in my TBR for a while, yes I know that it’s a new release, but considering that I’ve waiting for the right time to read it…I’ve waited a long time…really I did.

As usual when we’re camping, I woke up early, and picked up a book…in this case it was The Lost Duke of Wyndham. I had a couple of hours of uninterrupted reading, and after I got the kids ready to go to the beach and I was able to finish it.

I enjoyed it! It’s one of those stories that just flow so easily. The characters were wonderful. I loved Jack’s sense humor, it was sly and witty. Jack and Grace’s love story was sweet and sensual, considering it was love at first sight/touch/smell…you get the idea. Thomas was likable and interesting (can’t wait until his book in September!). But the scene stealer in the book, was the Dowager Duchess, she was so mean and ornery, she was unbiased on who to annoy and ridicule.

Although I enjoyed the story, I can’t say that it was the author’s best work. But did it make me smile? Yes! Did it make me anticipate the next book? Yes!

Marg & Rowena, thanks so much for stopping by.
I'm really curious about Thomas' story.
We only have to wait until September (I think).
