Day 18 - 2008 Blog Advent Tour

I'm so happy of being part of the Blog Advent Tour, which is being hosted by Marg and Kailana.
I love Christmas! I love buying presents, and wrapping them up... I don't even mind the craziness of the holidays. But if you were to ask me what is my favourite part of Christmas I would I have to say it's Christmas goodies, music and movies. And I want to share my favourites with you.
Favourite Christmas cookie:
Surprise Snow Kisses
1 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup finely chopped hazelnuts, toasted
60 milk chocolate kisses, unwrapped
3/4 cup icing sugar
In a bowl, beat together butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour with the hazelnuts. Stir into the butter mixture.
Shape a rounded teaspoonful of the dough into a ball around each chocolate to cover completely. Place balls 1 inch apart on parchment paper lined rimless cookie sheets.
Bake in centre of 350F (180C) oven until firm but not browned, about 10 minutes. Let cool on pans on racks; roll in icing sugar.
Enjoy!
Favourite Christmas Songs:
As a child I loved these two:
And as an adult these are my most cherished:
Favourite movies:
I just couldn't choose one.
Merry Christmas!

Bookworm Award

I've been awarded! The lovely Ana has tagged/awarded me! Thank you Ana!
Here are the rules:
Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56.
Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following there.
Pass this on to five blogging friends.
I just got back from the library, and I have my tote right here with so I came out with Crazy For You by Jennifer Crusie.
"But you'd think somebody would notice me standing next to a guy."
She screwed the cap off of her own bottle and drank, and he watched the curve of her neck as she leaned back and the movement of the muscles in her throat, willing his eyes not to drop farther down that curve to that damn pink sweater. Her hair fell back in the same smooth bell cut she'd worn since she was fifteen. No kink to Quinn at all, he thought, keeping his mind off curves. Just all that smooth silky red-gold hair, the kind that looked like it would fall like water through his fingers.

Six + Seven Random Things About Me
I've been tagged! The lovely Ana has tagged me to do Six + Seven Random Things About Me.
Here are the rules:
1. Link back to the one who tagged you, write these rules in your post.
2. Post 6 or 7 facts about yourself, positive, negative or just plain weird!
3. Tag 6 or 7 people at the end of the post by name and blog link.
4. Let them know they were tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Random Things About Me:
1. As a child I was painfully shy. I was the type of child that would hide so I wouldn't have to play with other children at family gatherings. Eventually I grew out of the shyness, well not completely, I can still be shy.
2. Growing up I spent most of my summers in Portugal. My parents are Portuguese, and they emigrated to Canada when I was three. They have a house in Pataias, where my father was born.
3. I'm fluent in Portuguese both spoken and written. I took Portuguese throughout school. At one point I considered going to University in Portugal.
4. I love to eat. No, it's really a love affair of sorts. I love trying different foods. But, I live with a bunch of picky eaters, so I can only experiment when we go out to eat.
5. I used to work at a bank. The branch was in a busy mall. Although I loved my job, I hated the location. Craziness! Let's not get into holiday shopping...I cringe at the thought.
6. I'm addicted to nail polish! I love, love, love it! I keep my finger nails with a french tip, but my toe nails are always brightly polished. I absolutely love OPI and their new line, Nicole. I'm wearing Change The World, it's a gorgeous magenta.
7. Another addiction: handbags! I really would like to get this one, but it will have to wait.
and
8. I occasionally like to break rules. So I won't be tagging anyone for this, but if you want to join the fun feel free to add this meme to your blog. And don't forget to let me know...

Manic Monday
If you could take more control of one aspect of your life, what would it be?
My diet. I've been trying to lose weight for a while now, but's so hard to stick with it.
If you were to name the difference between the male soul and the female soul, what would it be?
I think there are no differences between male and female souls. The differences are in the choices that the individuals make.
If you had to admit the most selfish thing you do on a regular basis, what would you say it is?
I want quiet alone time. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does...it's bliss.
Join the fun here.

Six Unimportant Things About Me
I've been tagged by Ana for a new meme:
The rules are:
1. Link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your blog entry.
5. Let the tagged people know by leaving a comment on their blogs.
I love lipstick! I cannot leave the house without it. And I also have a huge collection... just don't tell my husband.
Another obsession: nail polish! For everyday use, here's my fav. And for special occasions or just when I want splurge I use this.
I'm an avid knitter. I love going to yarn shops and see the differect colours and feel all the different textures.
I HATE TO DRIVE!
I'm paranoid about my cat sleeping too much. He's getting older (14 years old), so he's sleeping a lot more lately and it freaks me out. I'm afraid that he'll pass away in his sleep.
I'm a member of Weight Watcher's. I've been since September 2007. I love the fact that I'm able to eat the foods I love and not feel guilty that I'm "indulging". So far I've lost 16 pounds. I'm losing them slowly and I'm okay with that.
Hmmm, who to tag? Well, I'm going to leave that one wide open....
